The guides on this blog come from the team behind the launcher, based in Ontario, Canada. We describe settings we shipped, defaults we chose, and the Android limits we ran into while making enforcement hold.

What we can tell you firsthand

ReClaim is a minimalist Android launcher. Productive apps stay on the home screen. Distracting ones can be blocked, capped, reminded, or hidden. There are no ads, and the launcher works without an account. That product is the thing we know from the inside: the duration slider, the limit checker, the reminder prompt, the three hide levels, and the permissions each one depends on.

When a guide says “we,” it means a decision in the product. A manual block has no early unlock because a block that can be tapped away at the moment of temptation is a timer with extra steps. A raised daily limit lifts immediately because the check is live, against time already used, rather than a frozen window. A reminder’s default, when the minutes run out, is a screen that asks you to leave or add time. Those are implementation choices, and the guides spell them out so you can pick the tool that matches the decision you are actually trying to make.

What we do not claim

We are not clinicians, and ReClaim is not a medical device or a treatment for problematic technology use. If your relationship with your phone is past the point of a habit you want to adjust, a qualified professional is the right next conversation. The disclaimer is the binding version of that.

We also do not claim a launcher is unbreakable. Android lets a determined person get around software limits, and our own disclaimer says so. The guides are about friction for a decision you already made. They are a poor fit for supervising someone else’s phone. Parents looking for that should evaluate Google Family Link and other purpose-built tools.

Where a guide relies on research we did not conduct, we link the paper or the official documentation. Phone behavior also varies by manufacturer. Steps for Digital Wellbeing, battery optimization, and special app access follow Google’s help and our support notes, and the menu names on a Samsung, Pixel, or other phone can differ.
